Over six years in the making. We first showed the Diplomat six years ago to wide acclaim but we never had the opportunity to make it due to other production model runs; we also wanted to revamp the design as we weren’t completely satisfied. Plain in its simplicity, the shape of the watch remains the same but what made the Diplomat such an attractive piece? These are conservatively styled watches that recall a by-gone decade with elements like convex gradient fumé dials, Arabic numeral font, knurled tapered crown that creates a slight space between the crown and the case proper, hand-finished bevelled edges of the case and sleek streamlined minimalist diamond cut dauphine hands. This simplicity is balanced with the mesmerizing hues of the dynamic gradient dial, which achieves an almost fumé-like effect with its saturated center in rich contrast with its dark edges. What is a fumé dial? It’s a dial where the color is a lighter shade in each dial’s center and gradually increases in intensity as it radiates toward the edges, with the color effects changing depending on the light.
A classic design never goes out of style
This collection of the Diplomat is versatile, represents our American heritage, and is guaranteed to offer a model that suits your signature style. Vintage vibes, classic American style in a wear-anywhere watch to be worn in every situation. Our collection is designed to evoke the distinctive style of the 1960s. Looks like it has come straight from the wrist of Don Draper! The cases are a contemporary 40mm in diameter and made of stainless steel, or steel with rose-gold PVD and water-resistant to 50 meters or 5 ATM.
The new Diplomats are outfitted with a slim, self-winding decorated movement, HGR 7081 (centre seconds) or the HGR 1165 (small seconds) with a specific Hager rotor, on display through an exhibition caseback, which powers the watch’s time. This reliable movement has a frequency of 28,800 vph beating at 4Hz and a power reserve of 42 hours. Functions include hours, minutes, central seconds or small seconds. The dial’s printed hour indices are simple, slender baton shapes that contrast with the dials, and the Hager logo directly beneath 12 o’clock. The Diplomat wears on a comfortable leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle that matches the dial of the models.
